How many coaches does it take to change a light bulb?
One, but that light bulb has to really want to be changed. |

The essence of good career coaching is bridging the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. It’s about unlocking your potential for success in life, identifying the things that you’d like to change or where you’d like to be, and focusing on taking action to make those changes happen. The results can be very powerful.
Coaching in any career is proven to work when these factors are present. Firstly, the client is willing to grow and accept change and, secondly, there is a gap between where he or she is now and where they want to be.
The coach is your motivator, to encourage you need to move forward and not give up. He or she acts as a non-judgmental sounding board and as your unconditional supporter. He or she becomes your co-creator in creating a compelling future for yourself, and acts as your advisor with great ideas and observations when you need them. Making career plans and goals is the easy part; the challenge is taking action and following through. Working with a career coach on a regular basis can have a very positive impact on achieving your goals.
Coaching can be done either face-to-face or over the telephone, so distance is not a problem. Moving On has clients all over the UK, as well as the USA.
Moving On offers a variety of coaching programs for individuals and companies, tailored to their needs. For individuals, the normal rate for four 60-minute sessions is £300, whether face-to-face or by telephone. E-mail support is provided by the coach between sessions, and brief “catch-up” calls are also available as and when they are needed at no extra charge. Please note that payment is required in advance, with a 4-session minimum commitment. A sliding scale is available for clients of limited means.
Coaching is conducted at regular intervals (whether by phone or in person) at the client’s convenience. Sometimes the client will be requested to do mutually agreed tasks between sessions. All sessions are confidential.
The Foundation Consultation provides an opportunity to talk to your coach about what you want to gain from coaching and to receive answers to any questions you might have about coaching. The session lasts 60 minutes. It is a good way for both client and coach to determine whether they work together well. There is no obligation following the call and no fee is charged.
This is guided by the client’s needs, but on average coaching lasts three months. Some issues are resolved in a shorter term while other issues can take longer. The coaching needs for each client are reviewed on a monthly basis.
Counseling Coaching is not designed to support individuals in times of crisis or emotional trauma. Nor is it designed to help individuals overcome feelings of intense grief, deep depression or other psychological conditions. Coaching is about looking to the future and encouraging forward-focused actions to achieve a desired outcome.
Mentoring Coaching does not demonstrate how to approach new situations, nor does it give individuals the answers or solutions to their problems. Coaching is about helping clients to explore their own solutions and to learn from their own experience.
Consulting Coaching does not analyze an individual’s situation or make recommendations for improvement. Coaching is about facilitating the exploration of the situation by the individual, and evaluating options to help the client achieve their goals.
Training Coaching does not set an agenda for how things should progress nor does it dictate what is covered in each session. Coaching is about following the client’s agenda to achieve whatever goals he or she wishes to achieve.
