What is Coaching

‘How many coaches does it take to change a light-bulb?’
‘One, but that light-bulb must really want to be changed.’

The essence of good coaching is bridging the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. It’s about unlocking your potential for success in life, identifying the things that you’d like to change or where you’d like to be, and focusing on taking action to make those changes happen.

HOW WILL THE COACH HELP ME?

The coach is your motivator, encouraging you to move forward and not give up. They act as a non-judgmental sounding board and as your unconditional supporter. They become your co-creator in building a compelling future for yourself, and an advisor offering great ideas and observations when you need them. Making plans and goals is the easy part; the challenge is taking action and following through.

DOES IT MATTER WHERE I LIVE?

Coaching can be done either face-to-face, by video link or over the phone, so distance is no problem.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Moving On offers a variety of coaching programmes for individuals and companies, tailored to their needs. For individuals, the normal rate for six 60-minute sessions is £300. Support is provided between sessions. A sliding scale is available for clients of limited means.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Coaching is conducted at regular times at the client’s convenience. Sometimes the client will be requested to do mutually agreed tasks between sessions. All sessions are confidential.

HOW DOES THE FREE CONSULTATION WORK?

The Foundation Consultation provides a no-obligation opportunity to talk to your coach about what you want to gain from coaching. It is a good way for both client and coach to determine whether they work together well.

HOW LONG DOES COACHING TAKE?

This is guided by the client’s needs, but on average coaching lasts three months. Some issues are resolved in a shorter time, others can take longer.

HOW CAN I OPTIMIZE MY COACHING SESSION?

  • Be honest and open with your coach
  • Come to the session prepared, with an idea of what you want to discuss
  • Aim for progress and set realistic goals
  • During some sessions you will feel a stronger sense of accomplishment and motivation than in others. This is normal so don’t get discouraged
  • Give your coach feedback
  • Be open to change and have fun!
